How Hunt A Killer Subscription Box Works?

  • Before starting the subscription, Hunt A Killer requires you to fill out a survey form. This will help to determine whether or not you have the right skills to play Hunt A Killer. You may receive questions like “Do you love mysteries and true crime/horror?”,  “Who do you plan on playing Hunt A Killer with?”, “What would you do if you get stuck or if you cannot find the answers?”, and “Why are you interested in playing Hunt A Killer?”. Once you are done answering these questions, Hunt A Killer requires you to fill out your name, city, and email address.
  • The next step requires you to select your subscription plan from 3 options. You can choose a month-to-month subscription plan, a 6-month subscription plan, or even a 12-month subscription plan. In the 12-month subscription plan, you will receive two series at a 6-month interval.

What I Love About Hunt A Killer Subscription Box

  • Each series has an interesting and unique storyline that you are unlikely to see elsewhere. All the mysteries require a lot of thinking and detective work, which makes Hunt A Killer super fun!
  • You can expedite orders at any time you want. This means that you can get all six boxes at the same time rather than on a 6-month basis. However, the shipping fee is likely to be higher than what is charged for regular shipping.
  • Hunt A Killer allows you to pause your subscription. If you pause your subscription, you will not be charged for that month. This helps to reduce costs temporarily. You can pause your subscription for around 30 to 90 days.
  • Each episode or box comes with an objective card that includes all the necessary instructions for completing that episode’s investigation. So, if you are new to Hunt A Killer and do not know how to start your detective work, you can always take notes from the objective card.

Hunt A Killer currently offers two types of subscriptions - Mystery and Horror. If you love true crime and want to solve cold cases, the Mystery Subscription might be the best option for you. On the other hand, if you are more intrigued by horror or spooky stories, you might want to opt for the Horror Subscription. I’m someone who is easily scared by paranormal or horror movies so I have opted for the Mystery Subscription.

The series I received in my Hunt A Killer Subscription Box was called “Curtain Call”. Curtain Call is basically about how Julia Adler, one of the founding members of the Cadence Theater, found the dead body of Viola Vein in the attic. Viola Vein was a popular actor during that era who had mysteriously disappeared. The series includes a lot of characters, special hints, and interesting mysteries that need solving.

In the first episode or box, I received ten items including three types of letters, a forensic report, inventory from the attic, two different notes, a cufflink that was said to be found in between the floorboards of the Cadence Theatre, a program, and a Cadence Theater Notebook. The letters were from PI, Julia, and Hector. One of the notes was from Ruth and the other was the rehearsal note.

All the notes and evidence were sent in this large black envelope, which made everything look very organized upon opening the subscription box. All the important stuff was kept in one place so there was no scope of losing any item.

As you can see, all the letters and notes are very detailed. Starting from the fonts to the dates, everything felt very real. It really did feel like I was solving a case from the 1930s era. A great deal of evidence and suspicious notes were sent in the first episode.

I really like the fact that Hunt A Killer has a different storyline for each series. The series that I received, “Curtain Call”,  had its own original mystery which was pretty interesting to unfold. I was provided with lots of reading materials and interesting evidence such as notes, cufflinks, and handkerchiefs, which made me feel more drawn to the case. Moreover, Hunt A Killer also provides you with QR codes that you need to scan in order to gather more information or websites that you can go to if you want a more detailed picture of the characters. So, there are lots of ways you can follow to find out the hints. Hunt A Killer is an interactive game that I really enjoyed playing, be it by myself or with friends and family.
